PDF File Compress

About PDF File Compress

PDF File Compress is a free online PDF compressor that runs entirely in your browser. It exists to fix one annoying problem: upload forms that reject a PDF for being too large.

Who We Are

PDF File Compress is built and run by an independent developer team in India. You can reach us at [email protected].

Why It Exists

Exam portals, job sites and KYC forms often cap a PDF at 100 KB or 200 KB, and most online tools make you upload private documents to a server to shrink them. We built a tool that does the work on your own device and lets you type the exact size you need.

How the Tool Works

Your browser reads the PDF, compresses the images with WebAssembly code that runs on your device, and hands the smaller file back. The PDF is never sent to our servers. Try it on the homepage.

How We Test

We run our own sample files (a scanned form, a photo brochure, a report with charts and phone photos of handwritten notes) through the tool in Chrome on a laptop. For comparisons we measure file size and SSIM, a standard image similarity score, for every page against the original. Results vary by document, so we always tell you to test your own file.
